ฉลาดกับโง่ และคำของพวกนาง

     สวัสดีค่ะ

     ในภาษาไทยเราคำว่า ฉลาด  และ  โง่  ต่างมีคำที่มีความหมายคล้ายๆกัน  อย่างคำที่ความหมายคล้ายคำว่าฉลาดก็เช่น  หัวไว  ไหวพริบดี  หรือคำคล้ายของคำว่าโง่ก็เช่น  หัวทึบ  ทึ่ม

     ในภาษาอังกฤษ  คำว่า  "ฉลาด"  และ  "โง่"  ก็มีคำเหมือนของมันเช่นกัน  และมีหลายคำเสียด้วย  ยายคนเขียนซึ่งเห็นคำพวกนี้วันดีคืนดีจึงสงสัยว่า  ละมันต่างกันมั้ย?  และนี่คือข้อมูลที่ค้นมาได้ค่ะ



     ฉลาด

smart = good at school (book smart) / aware surrounding and keen at response to various types of situation

intelligent = posses tons of information, มีความสามารถในการเชื่อมโยงข้อมูลเข้าด้วยกัน, มีความสามารถในการวิเคราะห์ และมีความคิดสร้างสรรค์, an ability to solve problem

sensitivity = ความรู้สึกไว ความเฉียบแหลม

brilliant = have mind that shine like a diamond

wisdom = can put thing in right perspective ก็คือปัญญาแบบทางธรรม (ดาวพฤหัสฯงี้?)

wit/witty = sharpen, keen at language, sense of humor and irony ดาวพุธชัดๆ!!!

clever = ความสามารถที่เกี่ยวข้องกับมือและการเคลื่อนไหวร่างกายที่ว่องไว , ability to think in alternative way

savvy = having or showing perception, comprehension, or shrewdness especially in practical matters

astute = having or showing an ability to accurately assess situations or people and turn this to one's advantage, practical cleverness or judgement อารมณ์หัวการค้า?

shrewd = showing clever resourcefulness in practical matters, able to judge people and 

situations very well and to make good decisions (btw ดิคlongdo บอกว่าคำเหมือนมันคือ sharpen กะ astute แสดงว่าต้องเกี่ยวกับความหัวไวและใช้งานได้ในทางปฏิบัติ)

     โง่  

stupid = lack of intellectual, knowledge or common sense, not paying attention to things that a wide-awake person do (จากรากศัพท์ stupor ภาษาละติน)

idiot = worst, refer to imbecile (ปัญญาอ่อน), low IQ

fool = hoodwinked(ถูกหลอกง่าย), lacking good sense or judgement, crazy (รากศัพท์คือ fou จากฝรั่งเศส)

dumb = unable to speak

silly = งี่เง่า, lack of common sense (รากศัพท์ saelig จากภาษาอังกฤษโบราณ แปลว่า มีความสุข)

     หาไปก็งงไปนะว่า  เออ  มันต้องแยกขนาดนี้เชียวหรือ  แต่ก็เออ  ฝรั่งเขาก็ช่างคิดเหมือนกันแฮะ  เอาเป็นว่า  ถ้าคราวหน้ามีใครใช้คำพวกนี้กับคุณล่ะก็  คุณก็คงพอเข้าใจมากขึ้นว่าเขาชมหรือด่าในจุดไหนอ่ะนะ
